What is Mediation

Mediation is an effective, out-of-court dispute resolution method recognised under the Law on Mediation in Civil Disputes. With the help of a 'mediator', the parties can reach a common solution by negotiating together. The settlement reached through mediation has the effect of a court judgment.

Who is a Mediator

A mediator is an independent and impartial legal professional trained in this field. In a dispute, the mediator works to assist the parties and facilitate the process in order to reach an amicable solution, without imposing any solution on them.

The Mediation Process

The mediation process works in two ways. The parties may decide to resolve their dispute with a mediator without going to court. Alternatively, while a lawsuit relating to the dispute is ongoing, the court may also recommend mediation to the parties.

Mediation Fees

Mediation services are subject to a fee. This fee varies depending on the subject of the dispute, the number of mediators involved, whether a lawsuit has been filed, and — in monetary disputes — the amount in question.

Benefits of Mediation

It is shorter and more economical than court proceedings. A mediation settlement is equivalent to a court judgment. You can choose your own mediator. You can apply at any stage of the dispute. Everything discussed during the process is kept confidential.
